The Giving Matters Youth Philanthropy Leadership Award in Memory of Lois B. Green is presented annually to recognize a female high school student in grades 10-12 for giving of her Time, Treasures, and Talents to the community. Applications can be submitted until February 3, 2014.
Giving Matters, a program of the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) created the Youth Philanthropy Leadership Award in memory of Lois B. Green in 2011. It is offered as part of the Giving Matters commitment to inspire and educate women to realize their power to transform their community and our world through philanthropy. Community Youth Development of Sarasota County is partnering with Giving Matters to promote and facilitate this opportunity to celebrate and recognize the contributions of outstanding female philanthropists.
The Award will be presented to a current high school student who has influenced the community and her peers by specific philanthropic efforts. The winner will receive a $1,000 prize to be awarded as a $500 scholarship to the winner’s choice of post-secondary educational institution and a $500 contribution to her choice of a local nonprofit organization. The winner will be selected by a panel of judges from the community and will be announced by March 12, 2014.
The winner and a family member will be the special guests at the Giving Matters Luncheon on April 28. 2014, when the award will be presented.
