The SRQVolunteen training program introduces students to volunteerism and empowers them to become stewards of change. Participants develop a community service project in conjunction with, or to the benefit of, a local nonprofit. In addition to their community service efforts, students gain important skills such as communication, team-building, and problem-solving that will benefit them throughout their school years and beyond.
Community Youth Development of Sarasota County empowers youth as leaders in service to their community. CYD engages youth in grades 6 -12 in programs designed to build skills they will use for a lifetime through activities that benefit the community. CYD has successfully supported young people to make positive choices for the past twenty years in Sarasota County, and has earned national recognition for the STAR Leadership Training for high school youth. CYD is funded in part by the Sarasota County Government.
